The day of Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi is considered the festival of Narak Chaturdashi. To get freedom from hell on this day, one should apply oil in the morning and take bath with water along with Apamarg (Chichdi) plant. On this day, a lamp should be donated to Yamraj in the evening. It is said that on this day Lord Shri Krishna had killed the demon named Narakasura.
