Once upon a time a king named Chitrasen ruled. All the people in his kingdom used to fast on Ekadashi. The king had deep reverence on Amalaki Ekadashi. One day the king went far in the forest while hunting. They were surrounded by demons. The king fainted in panic. The demons attacked them, but with whatever weapon they wanted to kill the king, it would turn into a flower. Then suddenly a divine power appeared from the body of the king and became invisible after killing all the demons.
When the king regained consciousness, he saw that all the demons were dead. The king wondered who killed them? Then there was Akashvani - O Rajan! All these demons have been killed because of your fasting on Amalaki Ekadashi. The Vaishnavi power of Amalaki Ekadashi emanating from your body has destroyed them. After killing them, she again entered your body there. Hearing this, the king's happiness knew no bounds. He returned and told everyone in the state the glory of Ekadashi fasting.
