Nag Panchami is one of the important days and this festival is celebrated on Shukla Paksha Panchami of Shravan month.
It is believed that any worship offered to snakes reaches the serpent gods. That's why on this occasion, people worship living snakes as the representatives of the Nag Gods. Snakes are considered to be revered in Hinduism.
