Lord Krishna started saying that O Yudhishthir! The story of this Ekadashi was once told by Brahmaji himself to Devarshi Narad, I tell you the same. Naradji had asked Brahmaji that O Pitamah! I wish to hear the story of Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Shravan month, what is its name? What is the method and what is its greatness, so kindly tell.
After listening to these words of Naradji, Brahmaji said - O Narad! You have asked a very beautiful question for the benefit of the worlds. The name of Krishna Ekadashi of Shravan month is Kamika. By merely listening to him one gets the fruit of Vajpayee Yagya. On this day conch, chakra, mace-wielding Lord Vishnu is worshipped, whose names are Sridhar, Hari, Vishnu, Madhav, Madhusudan. Listen to the fruit you get by worshiping him.
The fruit that is obtained from Ganga, Kashi, Naimisharanya and Pushkar bath, is obtained from the worship of Lord Vishnu. The fruit which is not obtained by bathing in Kurukshetra and Kashi on solar and lunar eclipses, by donating the earth along with oceans, forests, by bathing in the Godavari and Gandaki rivers in Leo's Jupiter, is obtained by worshiping Lord Vishnu.
The gods, Gandharvas and Surya etc. are all worshiped by those people who worship God in Shravan. Therefore, the people who are afraid of sins should definitely fast on Kamika Ekadashi and worship Lord Vishnu. Fasting on this Ekadashi and worshiping Lord Vishnu is very necessary for the people trapped in the mire of sin and drowned in the sea of the world. There is no better way to destroy sins than this.
Hey Narad! God himself has said that the soul does not get Kuyoni by Kamika Vrat. Those people who devotedly offer Tulsi Dal to Lord Vishnu on this Ekadashi, they stay away from all the sins of this world. Lord Vishnu is not as pleased with gems, pearls, gems and jewelery etc. as he is with Tulsi Dal.
The fruit of Tulsi Dal worship is equal to the donation of four weights of silver and one weight of gold. Hey Narad! I always bow down to the beloved Tulsi of God himself. Watering the Tulsi plant destroys all the sufferings of a man. All sins are destroyed by mere sight and man becomes pure by touch.
Even Chitragupt cannot say the greatness of lamp donation and awakening on the night of Kamika Ekadashi. Those who light a lamp in the temple of God on the night of this Ekadashi, their forefathers drink nectar in heaven and those who light a lamp of ghee or oil, they go to the sun world illuminated by a hundred crore lamps.
Brahmaji says that O Narad! Man should fast on this Kamika Ekadashi, which destroys the sins of Brahmahatya and feticide. A person who listens and recites the greatness of the fast of Kamika Ekadashi with devotion goes to Vishnu Lok after being freed from all sins.
